$703, 000 in future interest payments scheduled. Guess that makes it $7.6 million unless you are planning to default. That can’t happen, because PREVIOUS City councils agreed to put the City on the hook for all of this borrowing if the LEDC defaults.

Oh, and also $2.2 million in debt. So calculate all that however you want. The bottom line is they have been paying piles of interest on a non-performing asset for about two decades now. Not to mention all the tax revenue forfeited had the land just been left in private hands back in 2004. LOL. What a train wreck.

But the best part had to be the progression of Talbert from defiant, to deflecting blame and finally to bowing her head and agreeing to sell off 80+ acres of Talbert’s Folly.

Incompetent LEDC President Talbert Refuses To Stream/Record LEDC Meeting Audio/Video Like They Do For City Council.

If I’m not mistaken, a few months ago a local citizen suggested publicly that the LEDC should livestream and record the video and audio of all LEDC meetings (once a month) just like they do for City council.

I thought this was a fantastic idea. I actually said the same thing a few years ago. It makes sense: we have an A/V system that the profligate Toups administration wasted nearly $100,000 on but which City council only uses TWICE each month. The LEDC only meets ONCE a month. There is NO reason the LEDC (a group of baboons mishandling millions of dollars) should not ALSO record their meetings.

I recently asked the City if any progress or decisions had been made on this idea. Their response?

“The only meeting currently streamed is City Council and there are no plans to stream any of the other city meetings at this time. However all meetings are open to the public.”  

Brilliant excuse! I’d like to point out that City council meetings are also “open to the public,” but that didn’t stop you clowns from spending nearly $100,000 on wildly overpriced A/V equipment to record and stream audio/video. The cost is ALREADY sunk – so you should be using it as much as possible, right?

Retarded decisions such as this by that insular, unaccountable and inbred group is why the LEDC is about as popular as a beggar with leprosy these days.

Orsted Shares Plunge Amid “Surprise” Impairment News And Trump’s Offshore Wind Lease Halt 

Danish wind company Orsted got another kick in the nuts this morning. With any luck, the death of the entire wind industry will not be far behind.

Europe’s wind energy and renewable companies were pressured after President Trump signed an executive order on Monday to halt US offshore wind lease sales in federal waters temporarily. Adding to the industry-wide gloom, Danish offshore wind developer Orsted revealed impairment charges that exceeded Wall Street analyst expectations. 

Shares of Orsted plunged as much as 18% in Copenhagen – the most since November 2023 – after the company revealed an impairment charge worth 12.1 billion Danish kroner ($1.68 billion) at its troubled US unit.
