We Just Got A Taste Of “The Green New Deal” – Failing Wind And Solar

Too much wind and solar on a grid and you will get “ERCOT” with your pants down. Every time.

This chart of TX power generation shows you everything you need to know about trying to add lots of renewables to a grid.

The enormous variability of wind generation becomes instantly apparent. Wind is not real baseline power because it’s too unpredictable and variable. Power over sweep for wind is a third-power function of wind speed, so it’s always going to vary massively with small changes in wind velocity. It jumps all over the place. The variance is managed through fast spin natural gas plants that come online to take up the slack.

But we can see what happens when wind suddenly drops to near zero and stays there because, say, all your windmills are frozen solid in an ice storm.

Nat gas has been taking up wind’s slack and then some. It’s been going gangbusters trying to keep up. But demand is just too high and there’s just no more real, reliable power. The issue here is not too much fossil fuels – it’s not having enough. If the whole peak power of the TX system was nat gas and coal, we would have sailed through this with no issues. Same for nuclear.

At exactly the moment we needed peak power, the renewables went to near zero. So the grid broke. We see this time and time again where you have wind and solar exceeding about 30% of grid. We see it in Germany. We see it in California.

Working 96-98% of the time is not acceptable for things like power grids. It means you’re gonna get a week or two of this a year.

Listening to the green new deal grifters push more renewables to fix this is like watching a frat bro tell a pledge they just need a couple more shots of mescal to sober them up.

City Forced To Turn Over LEDC ‘Business’ Park Prospect Impact Study

Well, score one for the taxpayer and the little guy.

Despite JC Brown and Finley’s best efforts to stymie me, the “impact study” the City had conducted for Eco-Strong as a viable candidate to be a “business” park tenant is now in my hands.

I think this is the first time the Attorney General has sided with me. The score may be something like 4-1 in favor of City attorney JC Brown and Mayor “Transparency” Talbert, but that’s ok. It’s nice to finally win one.

I started perusing the docs yesterday and I can already say, it looks like a whole lot of numbers pulled from asses. I will post more detailed analysis over the next week or so, but there are a few tidbits below. I figured the taxpayers of Lampasas would like to know what their City is considering getting into:

They are proposing the following:

“A 35,000 square foot facility that will recycle 500,000+ tires per MONTH”.

By my math, that is 16,600 tires EVERY SINGLE DAY moving through the “business park”. Sounds like absolute horseshit to me. Assume you had a truck big enough to carry 1000 tires at a time (a random guess by me). That means a truck pulling in there every hour between 5am and 10pm. Every single day. Forever.

I don’t buy that shit for a minute.

“The firm will initially have 30 workers – the initial average annual salaries of these workers will be $33,000”

Wow. Those are some high-paying, high-tech jobs there, Mandy! Shoveling tire crumbs into a furnace, or however they do it, for about $16/hr. I think I’d rather work my way up at Wal-Mart to $16 in a year or two, but that’s me.

Has anybody given a moment’s thought to JUST the massive amount of traffic required to transport 500,000 tires worth of material into and then back out of the property every month? The pollution?

And Imperial’s is 32.4.

Collier’s median age is 57% higher than Imperial, and yet Imperial has done so, so much worse.

So here we have two counties, one with an early mandate when cases & deaths were very low, threatening their citizens with huge fines & literally jail time.

The other county has people openly not complying. That county is older, and 5x the density.

And their results are better. Not just better, MUCH better.

How could this happen? I thought the science on masks working is “CRYSTAL CLEAR”. Our “health authority” told me! It’s crystal clear! The CDC Director said so! And he has never been wrong!

If your kid is actually going to school, working hard and learning so they can master skills and move up to the next grade, they are complete suckers and saps because the moron kid who stayed home in his pajamas and who failed the STAAR test will ALSO be moved up to the next grade.

It must be so awesome to work in the government school system. You get huge raises like “Doctor” Chane Rascoe (now getting $170,000 per ~~year~~ nine months PLUS huge benefits), you get more money thrown at you all the time just by uttering “it’s for the kids”, but you are also not held accountable for the kids actually learning anything.

I guess letting the failures move up to the next grade just like the kids who worked hard will teach the hard-working kids a valuable lesson: in America, the laziest and dumbest people get to the top these days. There is zero point in taking responsibility or working hard because The Powers That Be (usually in the government) are going to fuck you anyways. LEDC ‘Business Park’ And Eckermann Payments (Part II)

We already covered the large amounts of payments (kinda/sorta hidden from easy view) that were made from the LEDC to Eckermann Engineering for the ‘business’ park debacle:

Now we I’ll walk you through a short exercise in logic:

LEDC was making the first installment of those $70,800 in payments to Eckermann “for engineering services of Business Park Phase 1 Roadway and Utility Improvements” back in JUNE of 2019.
It therefore follows that they were making these plans to have Eckermann “engineer” the park even before that – probably in early 2019. But for SURE in April and May of 2019.
Covid-19 was not around back in June of 2019. It hadn’t been released on the world yet and would not happen for another 7 months – therefore, the LEDC and City HAD to already have a plan to pay for this “Phase I” construction, right? Their plan could NOT have been: “hey, let’s grab millions in federal Covid funds next year” because there was no such thing yet.
If they DID have a plan on how to pay for all this back then, then why are they now screaming poor and talking about begging to Uncle Sam for some “Covid relief grants”? Why not go ahead with the original plan on how to pay for the Phase I plans that Eckermann was about to engineer for them (at a cost of $70k)
The LEDC is funded by sales tax receipts and sales tax receipts were UP over 14% last year!! Therefore, the LEDC was not economically injured by Covid. Quite the opposite. Therefore, the original plan from May of 2019 on how the hell to pay for all of this should still be in play – nothing has changed in terms of LEDC funding
If they DID NOT have a plan on how to pay for all of this after Eckmermann banged out his $70,800 master plan papers, then that is basically an admission of monumental incompetence and stupidity on the part of the LEDC and City council. They are basically telling us, “yeah, we wasted $70,800 for a pile of engineering plans, but we have no idea how we are going to fund the ACTUAL construction of those plans.

So which is it, LEDC??

Option one: you had a plan on how to pay for Phase I BEFORE you threw $70,800 at Eckermann – a plan you should still be able to use, since you have not been financially injured.

Option two: you had no idea back in June of 2019 how in the hell you were going to pay for all this and you were just winging it and playing it by ear. You were willing to waste $70,800 on plans that might never even come to fruition.

It’s either one or the other, guys.
