City Hands More ‘Free’ Money To Developers – Hidden Oaks Edition.

The City just can’t stop handing out ‘free’ stuff! Well, if you are a developer, that is.

If you’re just a regular citizen with a huge electricity bill, you get to sit in the middle and suck one.

The latest “freebie” is ANOTHER check to the Hidden Oaks development – a 12-home site on Old Naruna Road that has seen very little activity as of late. I wonder if the housing crash has anything to do with that? Talk about bad timing!

As I pointed out previously, Hidden Oaks was being handed $19,716 for “electrical infrastructure”.

Kinda like Stone Valley was gifted $72,000 for THEIR 67 houses.

But that’s not all!

Hidden Oaks just got ANOTHER fat check “in the amount of $9,887.38 which was reimbursement for expenses related to the lift station for the subdivision as defined in the Development Agreement on Page 7 Section 3- #2A.“, according to the City.

So that is now nearly $30,000 in gifts given by the City – all for 12 houses that may or may not get built by the deadline set by the City.

With rates going up and home sales and prices diving, it will be very interesting indeed to see how Brodie Estates and Hidden Oaks play out. I suspect we’ll get to see if the City has any enforcement mechanism for failure to abide by the contract. I have my doubts.

There Is No Climate Crisis. History Shows Us The Earth Has Seen FAR Worse.

Whenever high temperatures are reported in the US or Europe the news is hyperinflated into wild theories of climate Apocalypse by the media, but weather history suggests that the panic is fabricated rather than justified. In fact, any hot weather event you can pick out in recent years is likely overshadowed by a much worse event decades or centuries before “man-made carbon pollution” was ever a thing.

[Hey – whatever happened to “global warming is giving us more and bigger hurricanes?? I don’t recall a single hurricane this year! Oh – we’ll ignore that inconvenient fact this year, I guess]

For example, the media is frantic over the current drought and “record temps” in Europe this summer, warning that it could become the “worst drought” in 500 years. Of course, this claim opens the door to a question that climate scientists and propagandists don’t want to answer: What happened 500 years ago?

A similar level of global warming hysteria was present during a heat wave in Europe in 2003, as well as in 2018. The few climate scientists still not bought and paid for by governments and the UN have had to point out that these droughts are nothing compared to the living hell that was the drought of 1540. This event is often termed a “mega-drought” because the region suffered historically hot temps while receiving almost no rain for a year.

Temperatures that year averaged 5°C to 7° C above average temperatures in Europe in the 20th century. In US terms, that means daily summer temps of around 104° F.

Hundreds of historic accounts written at the time describe around half a million deaths, along with vast wildfires and a winter in Italy that “felt like July.” Keep in mind that carbon levels in Europe in 1540 were 30% LOWER than they are today, yet, the region suffered perhaps the worst warming event in its recorded history.

Today’s climate data is based on records held by the NOAA and other institutions, and these records only go back to 1880. So, whenever you hear the mainstream media rant about record temperatures, they are using a tiny sliver of global weather history going back a little over a century. Any honest scientist in this field will tell you that the Earth’s climate record is vast compared to the limited data used by global warming ideologues, and the majority of destructive weather crises have occurred well before man-made carbon emissions.

It certainly wasn’t carbon pollution from cars, farming and industry that caused the crisis in 1540.

Try doing any research on the 1540 event and you will be buried in a pile of mainstream articles that acknowledge the disaster but then try to use it as an example of why we must comply with carbon restrictions and climate authoritarianism in 2022. They say “Look at what happened to Europe in 1540. You don’t want that to happen again, do you?”

Of course, humanity had no say or control over the weather in 1540, just as we have no say or control over the weather today. There was no carbon based global warming back then, and there is no carbon based global warming now.

Scientists still have no idea what caused many of the warming events of the past including the crisis of 1540, so why should we have blind faith in their claims that carbon is the cause of warming in recent years? In fact, the NOAA and other climate research institutions still offer no concrete proof of a relationship between carbon emissions and rising temperatures. Their argument is that they have excluded all other possible causes, leaving only carbon as the remainder. This is not science, this is haphazard guesswork.

If there was ever a field that defies the logic, reason and analysis commonly associated with the scientific method, it is climate science.

Set aside the fact that billions of dollars in funding are paid out to climate scientists every year, but only those scientists that operate from the assumption that climate change is caused by human beings. That is to say, there are numerous incentives for scientists to discount other causes for global warming. They are not scientists, they are paid political activists. Luckily, temperatures are not that high. The NOAA’s own data shows that the average temperature of the Earth has risen less than 1°C in the past century. This is nothing, so why all the panic?

Let’s just say that carbon controls are a powerful tool for micromanaging the population and justifying authoritarianism in the name of the “greater good.” If the public is convinced to accept false climate change narratives, then government would have the ability to control every aspect of daily life, from the amount of electricity we use, to the food we eat, to the businesses we can run, to the level of production and the size of the population. This is not fiction this is reality, and it is happening much faster than many people realize, all in the name of saving the planet from a threat that doesn’t exist.

Police Chief Wants $170,000 For TWO Brand-New Police Cars – For School Resource Officers

I am now convinced that Police Chief Cummings has completely lost his mind. He is requesting nearly $170,000 for two new police cars JUST for the School Resource Officers he wants. See page 87.

$170,000.00.

One hundred and seventy thousand dollars.

You could buy a house for that a couple years ago.

It was bad enough they are using the Uvalde incident to hire two new officers at great expense. The problem with Uvalde wasn’t that they didn’t have enough officers. It’s that they didn’t execute the plan and stood around twiddling their thumbs for like 90 minutes while some scrawny kid who never shot a gun before massacred a bunch of kids.

I have to think that with as small as our town is, every single cop at the station could be at ANY of our schools in under 8 minutes – and a couple schools might be under 5 minutes. I know we have at least 3 or 4 officers who would bust the doors down and give the shooter a double shot center mass (then one in the head to be sure) then calmly eat a burger (**cough** Morua ** cough ** Hummer ** cough cough).

In short, the “plan” we had last year is fine. There is no need for a new plan.

NOW Chief Cummings wants TWO brand-new cruisers. You know – for the SROs who literally stay in one spot all day at the school.

That is pure insanity.

One thing that has bothered me for a LONG time is that every time I drive by the police station, there are at LEAST six patrol cars there. So at any given hour of the day, SIX vehicles are sitting unused. But now he wants two more? Why? SO everybody can get their own personal car with their names on it?

Bullshit.

That’s fine for the higher-up officers who have been there forever. But the new guys? You get to all share a car. You school resource officers? Grab one of those many vehicles sitting there at the station all day long. You know, the ones that are ALREADY equipped with:

The above numbers are what they are requesting for EACH new police car. The vehicles themselves are $46,000.

Pretty sure the radio was invented over 100 years ago by some wop named Macaroni or something. No joke. Now, you’re going to blow $6,500 on a radio?

Please. I’ve covered the wildly expensive Motorola equipment before. There ARE other options. But apparently the City manager is unaware of that.

I gotta say this sounds like some Pentagon-level waste. Obscene spending for questionable needs…ESPECIALLY when you ALREADY have a bunch of patrol vehicles sitting there UNUSED all day long. But you can’t speak out against it, or you risk being called “anti law and order” or “anti military”.

We ALREADY have 24 vehicles, according to the latest City council packet [see page 62].

I’m a pro-law and order guy, but I’m also a fiscal conservative. At some point you need to tap the brakes and say “WTF??? There’s gotta be a better way.”

I realize that by posting this, I’m opening myself to maybe having a “broken tail light” in town and getting a ticket, but I don’t care. This is a crazy and obscene waste of tax dollars. There must be a cheaper way.

There was a lot of noise, and when Beto came out and started his usual campaign speech it was surprisingly mute from hecklers. That appeared to be mostly because there was little to heckle. Most of what he said was hard to disagree with, even for the other side. When the event was over, comments we heard were something like: “That was pretty middle of the road” or “That was a very measured speech” etc. At any rate, it was inspirational and a clear victory event for his supporters, and at least a peaceful event for all. The Campaign that started with Beto O’Rourke far in the distance in this reddest of red states, now has him still behind, but only by single digits.

OH really, Rhonda? The other side thinks his stances are hard to disagree with? LOL. OK. More likely, all those fake comments from the article were just the usual voices in your own empty skull as you hobbled around the room trying to get a good position on your knees between the other sycophants.

I imagine most non-Democrats were at work yesterday afternoon, and thus unable to heckle. Parasites like Clayton Tucker and Bruce Haywood don’t have jobs, so they can easily show up in the middle of the day to lick his sack.

Didya Know?? LEDC Wasted $52,000 On Internet Study Which Accomplished Nothing

I saw this posted yesterday and had to laugh…

I’m not sure if the LEDC is trying to take credit for this, but the truth is they have had absolutely ZERO to do with Internet in this town besides wasting piles of money with no results. Kinda like the Business Pork Project.

Nextlink would have happened even if we DIDN’T have a bumbling organization known as the LEDC and DIDN’T pay an “economic development director” over $100,000 per year in salary and benefits.

Here is a timeline of what REALLY went down:

October of 2017: the LEDC decides to “get serious” about Internet after hearing complaints for years. I know that even during the Toups administration (2015 – 2017) the mayor declared he would “sue AT&T” to get action taken. This went nowhere, of course. It was a lot of big talk and no action.

In a 10/24/17 Dispatch article, we learned that “Officials are looking closely at the two companies that submitted the top-ranked proposals, City Manager Finley deGraffenried said. Once a contract is awarded, the company’s recommendations for telecommunications improvements — including identification of network design and financial models — should be issued within 30- 60 days, Mrs. [Mandy] Walsh said.”

November 15, 2017: LEDC Board member Misti Talbert moves to award contract to Foresite Group, Inc for “technology assessment, design and specs” for an amount not to exceed$42,000 [see page 4]. Motion seconded by Pratus and carries unanimously – as usual.

January 17, 2018: deGraffenreid talks about the conceptual design of the “backbone” – classification of users and options for connection. See page 3. Walsh says she has “a standing meeting every Tuesday at 2pm with Foresite”.

March 21, 2018: “We continue to make progress with Foresite” [page 36]

[Notice that the “30 to 60 days” bullshit mentioned in the newspaper by Walsh back in October of 2017 has now come and gone. This is typical. See also: skate park]

April 18, 2018: “We’ve had several successful meetings in the last few weeks and are now in the review stage of the draft business report from Foresite. We’ve identified a viable option for backhaul provider, which has been the biggest challenge. The business plan from Foresite is a rough draft at this time….and hope to finalize by end of April” [see page 12]

May 16, 2018: The LEDC board decides they need a “subcommittee for technology infrastructure”. They do this a LOT. Dozens and dozens of subcommittees – and they are all the same clowns on the LEDC board. THIS subcommittee on technology will be made up of Schaub, Pratus, TALBERT and KUEHNE. You know – because Talbert and Kuehne are tech experts and well-versed in fiber networks. [see page 2].

ZERO MOVEMENT DURING THIS TIME GAP.

August 15, 2018: Yes – we have a three month gap. This also happens a lot. The LEDC gets all excited about something, spends tens of thousands of dollars on a study, appoints themselves to various subcommittees and then twiddle thumbs for a year or two.

Anyways on page 20: “We continue to work with Foresite Group – with bi-weekly phone calls. We also met with the subcommittee and worked through the survey. We hope this will give us the data we need in order to understand which financial model is most feasible“

September 19, 2018: “the fiber subcommittee met with members of the Foresite team on September 5th and review survey questions we felt were relevant.” [see page 19]

[Again, I’m sure Talbert and Kuehne’s VAST experience in fiber networks AND running a private sector business helped them immensely here. Also notice we are now almost a YEAR out from the initial October 2017 start date and they are still dicking around with surveys. That “30 to 60 days” is long forgotten. This is also very typical]

October 17, 2018: More dicking around with survey [see page 5-6]. Technology subcommittee upset that “changes requested by the subcommittee have not been implemented”. More circle jerking ensues.

November 14, 2018: Mandy has “presented survey to eight local groups…so far we’ve had a great response” [see page 18]. I have no idea what this accomplishes.

January 16, 2019: More blather about the surveys. Are you seeing a pattern yet? See page 43.

Feb 20, 2019: “Foresite and staff are requesting a joint session between City council and the LEDC on March 20th for their final presentation.” See page 33.

March 20, 2019: The big presentation arrives. I won’t go too far into the weeds, you can read it all yourself [pages 1,2,3]. But the bottom line is that for their $42,000 ‘study’, Foresite recommends the following:

Build a dark fiber
Apply for a grant
Public or private partnership

[In other words, try to find somebody to pay for all of this. Brilliant!!]

April 17, 2019: Langford (remember them??) starts work on the USDA ReConnect grant/loan application. “The most strategic option in staff/fiber subcommittee/grant writer’s opinion is the 50/50 grant/loan option” [see page 27]

The LEDC agreed to waste $10,000 on the grant application!!! [see page 2 Item V]

May 15, 2019: “We are continuing our work on the USDA grant/loan ReConnect Pilot Program.” [see page 19]

June 19, 2019: “I have a list of survey respondents from Foresite and I’ll be going through the resident information and contacting them to provide speed tests in order to justify our need for this grant” [see page 30] – grant is due June 21st [see page 7]

[Ruh roh. First chink in the armor, Mandy. Justify the need for the grant? This should have been figured out a LONG time ago by Foresite, in my humble Lampasshole opinion. Oopsie. I guess $42,000 doesn’t buy what it used to]

July 17, 2019: “We have discussed meetings between Foresite and a technology investor group out of Bryan TX….and they have expressed interest in assisting us with a funding solution. We have not set the initial meeting yet” [see page 19]

[BULLSHIT PIPE DREAM ALERT!!! Unnamed “investor group” has millions laying around to give away. Yeah RIGHT! This is where it is obvious to me it’s all going to blow up soon. Mandy just doesn’t see it yet – just like Mike Cour and Eco-Strong!]

Here comes the punchline – almost TWO YEARS and $42,000 later. Not to mention hundreds of manhours wasted by the LEDC and City council:

August 21, 2019: see page 15

“We also did not learn until well into the application that our dark fiber model was not an eligible model for this funding”.

BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Get the joke? That Foresite recommendation (which cost $42,000) was BULLSHIT! The august “Technology Subcommittee” comprised of Talbert and Kuehne didn’t catch it either. Nor did the grant writer. That’s called a Triple Fuckup in my book.

The $42,000? GONE. The “technology investor group” out of Bryan? GONE (likely never existed in the first place). The hopes of ‘free’ high-speed Internet? GONE. Those 22 months of fucking around with surveys and meetings and subcommittee meetings? GONE.

Too funny.

Of course, just like the Business Pork project disaster, the LEDC had their asses pulled from the fire thanks to COVID money raining down on them from a bunch of liberal retards running the country: Nextlink is subsidized by $281 million from the FCC and its Connect America Fund Phase 2 (CAF II) deployments. Fiber? Not using it. Totally different technology. Fund from tech investors? Not used.

So all is well that ends well, I guess. Nobody remembers the LEDC torching $42,000 on a pipe dream AND they can take credit for Nextlink showing up in town. And it’s all FREE, right Bruce? All those billions thrown at cities and counties for “COVID” is all FREE!!

That is if you don’t count the 12% inflation we are seeing as a direct result of all the money printing. But we can just blame all that on “greedy corporations”, right?
