“Mary Poche began her new role with the City….she has worked in Salado and most recently Liberty Hill, and has also spent time in Jarrell, doing economic development,” said outgoing City manager Finley DeGraffenreid.
This chick’s name and the Liberty Hill job sounded very familiar to me. So I looked her up. Turns out, I actually wrote about her 14 months ago!! What are the odds?!
I guess I’ll cut and paste my previous post, because why write it all over again? The post I made was about how overpaid Ybarra was compared to surrounding areas.

Liberty Hill, TX: $75,760 (population and growth rate FAR surpass Lampasas). Matt Powell was either canned or left last year and a NEW old fart has taken his place: Mary Poche. She looks like a disaster waiting to happen – and a LOT of money will definitely be wasted in Liberty Hill. Ybarra will be paid 18% more than her Liberty Hill counterpart.
Wait a sec…the Liberty Hill EDD looks EXACTLY like Jim Carey’s secretary in the movie Liar Liar!
Gee – was Mary Poche one of the “candidates” that the LEDC dummies spent all that time interviewing? Remember what Sid Ball told us a few weeks ago?
“He added that the incumbents who are up for re-appointment ‘spent five hours the week before interviewing candidates for the EDC Director Job’”
I bet it is, because this selection of Mary Poche has recently-booted TJ Monroe’s fingerprints all over it. Some lady who looks like she could be Monroe’s older sister, with health problems, and who has a history of quitting this same job after less than a year in TWO different cities?? Sounds like a final “fuck you” from TJ Monroe on her way out the door. Kind of like Biden torpedoing Kamala in the final days.
[Hey, didn’t they just pick Janet “Crazier” Crozier over Bob Chapman for the CIP because Bob had a history of quitting? Yes. Yes they did.]
They must REALLY be scaping the bottom of the barrel to go with this lady. I’ll bet you $100 she doesn’t even last 18 months here.
For the record, she only lasted 8 months in Jarrell and only lasted about 10 months in Liberty Hill – she quit because of “ongoing health issues”:
Mary Poche, economic development director for the City of Liberty Hill, recently resigned from her role, but has agreed to stay on with the city for the new couple of months while they search for her replacement.
“Unfortunately, I am having some health issues and will need time and space to take care of myself per my doctor’s recommendation,” Poche told The Independent. “This is a very busy job, and it deserves someone that can give 100-plus percent. To that end, I made the difficult decision to make a transition. We hope to have someone on board soon so that I may train with them……I am finding it increasingly hard to keep up. Therefore, this difficult decision was made primarily because of ongoing health issues whereby I must take some time to heal and hopefully get better.”
Also, this lady has a definite love for “robust incentive programs” – which means giving away a lot of tax dollars to clown horns like Mike Cour.
What a total dogshit pick this is. This is like the Chargers picking Ryan Leaf back in 1998. Or maybe JaMarcus Russell in 2007. This will be a disaster. Mark my words.
