Big Gov Liberal GreedPig Cathy Kuehne Wants To Make Sure She Extracts Every Last Penny From You Chumps.

Fresh off of approving the absolute maximum tax rate they could get away with (by .0001) without letting the voters vote on it, Councilwoman Cathy “Porkchop” Kuehne turned her sights to squeezing even more pennies out of the local taxpayers…

As usual, she sees a big problem where there is none. Then again, she’s not the brightest bulb. She fell for the masking and social distancing thing hook, line and sinker…

…and told us all repeatedly how she “puts herself at risk every DAY” just by being a teacher and risking catching that awful plague known as Covid. The same one she caught previously but didn’t even know she had…

Anyways, the current “big problem” is that there may be people renting out rooms on AirBnB here in town and NOT PAYING THE CITY ANY TAXES! The horror! God forbid you rent your home out for a little extra pocket change without paying your tithes to the City and their HOT (Hotel Occupancy Tax) fund.

For one thing, the HOT fund is so stuffed to the gills with money ALREADY, that morons like Kuehne are using it to fund ridiculous projects like the $1.4 MILLION Hostess House “facelift”. They also throw money at local gardening idiot Janet “Crazier” Crozier out of this fund and are currently debating giving her ANOTHER $12,000 or so, so she can buy rain catch tanks for a garden that is already hooked up to City water and provided nearly free ($35 per year).

When you waste piles of money like that, you are not hurting for dough. If Kuehne got her way, she’d have the Rental Police at your door demanding her cut so she can piss it away on more stupid projects. Fuck all that.

She also brought up the 2024 Eclipse as a reason to “get in front of this”.

Lampasas (through absolute dumb celestial luck) happens to be the #4 spot in the WORLD for watching the April 8, 2024 Eclipse. The path of totality literally passes DIRECTLY over us and our weather on April 8th is historically sunny and clear. I have confirmed this myself by recording the weather here on my compound on every single April 7,8, and 9 for the last 5 years running.

I have been planning for this for over two years already. I have bought tons of eclipse glasses so when they run out on Amazon, I can price gouge morons like Kuehne for $100. I plan on advertising spots on my many acres of land for a LOT of money for any national travelers who want a great spot to watch the eclipse. I will then gouge them for beers and food and everything else they need, because I will be stocking up way ahead of time.

I will not pay taxes on any of it. Suck my balls.

I’m doing this because, unlike Porkchop Kuehne, I have actually been to three total solar eclipses in my life. They are complete and utter mayhem and rooms/space/food/drink are at an absolute premium. This city has no idea what it is in for. These people are insane. They come from all over the world to get a perfect picture and they will murder you if you even talk to them during totality. People are just going to literally stop their cars on 183 for 20 minutes to watch and all your planning and bullshit will mean nothing. You will have 80,000 people all trying to get to the same place at the same time.

Then you will have 80,000 people all trying to leave at the same time. They won’t hang around and “shop on the square” and buy knick-knacks and shit to “support the local economy”. They are locusts. The just need to eat, drink, piss and sleep (maybe) and drain the gas station for the long drive home.

Think of the worst concert or sporting event you have ever been to. Maybe the Superbowl. Then multiply it by 10.

I’ve been there. I suggest you all load up on food, liquor, beer, gas and anything else by March 20th and plan on not being able to buy anything for 3 or 4 days without a massive hassle. It will be like a Covid lockdown.

I was gouged at all of these events, because there is essentially infinite demand from the lunatic eclipse chasers and there is limited supply of space/rooms/gas/beer/roads/restaurants.

It is simple economics – something Porkchop is quite ignorant of, because she has been a government employee her entire life.

But this time I get to be the gouger instead of the gougee. Nobody is going to rob me of that. Least of all a cretin like Kuehne.

This is a chance for EVERYONE in town (not just hotel and restaurant owners) to make a good buck and gouge the shit out of douchebags from New York, Chicago, Tokyo, London, etc. Kuehne can’t stand that. The government MUST get their cut.

Thankfully, new councilman Davis Keele put Porkchop in her place and said it wasn’t a priority! Good man. Looks like maybe we now have TWO non-goldfish on City council.

Latest Sales Tax Receipts UP 12% – But Still Trail Texas

New sales tax numbers are out. Lampasas UP 12% compared to last August. Yipeee!

But for the entire state of Texas, sales tax number UP 13%. We still trail the state. But hey, it’s getting closer! Only off by one percentage point this time!

For the fiscal year, Texas saw sales tax receipts soar 19.3% while Lampasas is only up 9.47% year-to-date….roughly in line with inflation. There is no LEDC-led miracle growth here – just inflation.

Feb and March numbers compare state raw (unadjusted) to Lampasas raw numbers now.

Liberal Mayor of New Orleans is a Complete Scumbag…But She’s a Black Chick, So You Can’t Say Anything.

New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell has defended using taxpayers’ money to purchase first-class seats on international flights and insisted she will not pay the money back after previously stating that it is unsafe to fly economy as a black woman.

Cantrell, a Democrat, made the comments at a press conference on Sept. 8 where sheinsisted that she would not be repaying the nearly $30,000 in taxpayers’ money that she spent on first-class flights to France and Switzerland.

“All expenses incurred doing business on behalf of the city of New Orleans will not be reimbursed to the city of New Orleans,” Mayor Cantrell said.

“One thing is clear: I do my job, and I will continue to do it with distinction and integrity every step of the way. That’s what I have to say on that.”

According to The Times-Picayune/The New Orleans Advocate, Cantrell has charged the city of New Orleans $29,000 to travel first- or business-class instead of via economy since January 2021,with her flights costing more than $38,200 overall.

Last month, the mayor defended her actions by stating that the upgraded travel was due to fears over her safety.

“My travel accommodations are a matter of safety, not of luxury. As all women know, our health and safety are often disregarded and we are left to navigate alone,” the mayor told the Times-Picayune/The New Orleans Advocate in August.

“As the mother of a young child whom I live for, I am going to protect myself by any reasonable means in order to ensure I am there to see her grow into the strong woman I am raising her to be. Anyone who wants to question how I protect myself just doesn’t understand the world black women walk in.”

Hell, FIVE DAYS ago, Brandon’s Treasury Secretary (an annoying a dim-witted gnome named Janet Yellen) declared war on fossil fuels AGAIN! Why is the Treasury Secretary even commenting on fossil fuels since it has ZERO to do with her job? Good question. But even retarded Dementia Joe knows that high gas prices will eventually be his undoing since people feel that pain once a week at the pumps. So Dementia Joe had to DO SOMETHING to paper over his mess until the elections in November. What Dementia Joe did is raid our Strategic Petroleum Reserves to artificially suppress oil prices for a little bit. This is the stockpile we keep in case the shit hits the fan so our military will not be caught short on fuel.

The SPR has been drained of hundreds of millions of barrels of oil over the last couple months. This is also a fact.

There’s just one thing, the price of gas at the pump is still up 76% since Biden was elected…

Oh, and we’re also in a recession now – which destroys demand. Another reason prices have eased a bit. Congratulations, Brandon! Your economy is in recession! Haywire probably doesn’t even realize this, because he doesn’t have a job and lives off the government.

If Loose Haywire understood a single thing about how the world works, he’d know this. But Bruce Haywire never leaves his house except to go buy sacks of Whataburger and Krab Kingz. Lampasas Sales Tax Receipts: Not As Great As The LEDC Brags About

Time to dive into sales taxes again. I do this because the Lampasas Economic Dunces Club does a lot of crowing about how they keep going up – implying that THEY have something to do with this. LOL.

In reality, the entire state of Texas has seen an explosion in sales tax receipts and the City of Lampasas actually TRAILS this trend badly.

For the months of February and March, the state of Texas gave two numbers – adjusted and unadjusted. This is due to winter storm Uri in 2021, which caused a disruption in receipts. I used the LOWER number just to be conservative. The state STILL stomped our numbers.

Remember: headline inflation during this period is around 8 or 9% and the TRUE inflation numbers are likely closer to 12 or 15%. If sales tax gains are up 8% but inflation is 14%, you are actually doing quite poorly.

As you can see, there is only ONE MONTH this year where Lampasas exceeded the trend for the entire state: May. In all likelihood, our May number was tainted by something being pulled forward from July – seeing as how July collapsed massively YoY (MINUS 7%).

The August numbers for Lampasas will be out in a week or so. We shall see.

BONUS DATA:

The state of Texas said recently that sales tax receipts have jumped 19.3% for the latest fiscal year (9/1/21 through 8/31/22).

In the latest LEDC packet, we learned that sales tax receipts are running 9.14% higher year-to-date (unclear if that means FISCAL year-to-date or CALENDAR year-to-date) – see page 33.

While it is not entirely an apples-to-apples comparison, we see that the City of Lampasas also lags badly here as well by 10 percentage points – barely matching inflation.

“Hetherly explained that she had invited Mr Grant (who did the restorations on the Santa Fe depot) to the meeting to discuss sustainable systems and renewable energy.”

Uh oh…smells like a scam coming up! Let’s continue…

This guy was no doubt talking about the Obama stimulus package that wasted hundreds of billions and accomplished nothing. As opposed to the more current Biden stimulus that is wasting TRILLIONS and accomplishes nothing.

Also, the statement that wind turbines are “better than solar power” is absolute unmitigated bullshit. By every metric (cost per watt, etc) solar is FAR “better” than wind – but nobody on the LEDC has ever been accused of being a genius, that’s for sure.

The icing on the cake? “Peter Grant noted that he was talking to Rick Hardin about the possibility of using the Depot for a training facility” [to train people how to install solar panels and pinwheels].

LOL. Of course you are. That way you can double-dip the stimulus money! Unbelievable. Thankfully, this scheme was even too hare-brained to qualify for federal government money, apparently. It died on the vine like so many other LEDC schemes.

California power grid officials have a sobering warning this week,telling customers to brace for potential blackouts as the state’s grid faces capacity constraints over the Labor Day weekend.

“The top three conservation actions are to set thermostats to 78 degrees or higher, avoid using large appliances and charging electric vehicles, and turn off unnecessary lights. 

“Lowering electricity use during that time will ease strain on the system, and prevent more drastic measures, including rotating power outages,” California Independent System Operator (CAISO) told customers. 

California’s grid is projected to exceed 48,000 megawatts next Monday, the highest of the year, as a menacing heatwave will send temperatures across the state 10-20 degrees above normal through next Tuesday. 

My god! Only 48 gigawatts??? We did 84 gigs here in Texas without an issue a few weeks ago. But somehow retards like Haywood and Tucker think WE have it bad and CA is a paradise!

“If weather or grid conditions worsen, the ISO may issue a series of emergency notifications to access additional resources and prepare market participants and the public for potential energy shortages and the need to conserve,” California’s grid operator warned. 

The fact that CAISO has to ask customers not to charge their EVs during the current heatwave implies the grid is fragile. So much for the green energy transition to unreliable renewable solar and wind. A surge in EV charging at home could bring down parts of the state’s grid. 

So to recap:

California, 2035: only electric cars sold.

California, 2022: We don’t have enough electricity, don’t charge your electric car.

So how is the progressive state hellbent on ridding fossil fuel generation from the grid, expected with unreliable solar and wind going to support all the new EVs after lawmakers passed a new measure last week to eliminate all gas-powered vehicles by 2035?

Grid operators are concerned by the increasing use of air conditioners, and as the evening rolls around, people plug in their EVs to charge, increasing power demand as supply constraints suggest the state will have years of a chaotic grid, similar to a third world country.
