Poor Mandy. She really did go to a LOT of ridiculous conferences and conventions and stuff. It’s my opinion that most of these “we’ll save your small town!” people are complete charlatans who are adept at sucking on government titmilk, but she DID spend her time on these things. Furthermore, the City spent a LOT of money on these events and programs. Apparently all for naught.
One of the most expensive was the “Save Your Town” event held May 13-17th of 2019 [page 32]. The City paid $4,500 (PLUS travel expenses) to these two charlatans to come to Lampasas and “live here” for 4 days. Their “expertise” included downtown walkarounds and “pop-ins” as well as a “What to Do With Empty Buildings” presentation.
But here we are – four years later and the City just slapped a “blighted” designation on a chunk of that SAME downtown area.
Sad.
