Sales tax receipts have cooled considerably – up only 6.54% over last January.
For comparison, LAST January, receipts were up 17% over the previous January.
The State of Texas as a whole saw receipts increase 9.4% – so Lampasas trails the state by almost 3 percentage points.
The OFFICIAL inflation rate is 6.5% – so this shows out sales tax increase is flat, at best, in REAL terms. We all know that inflation is hotter than 6.5% however. Looks like the start of a serious cooling-off period after the torrid increases due to Biden money printing.
